COMPETITION FAQ’S
Who is the virtual competition open to?
The competition is open to all dancers, soloists, duets, trios or groups from the age of 7 upwards. Any dancer under the age of 18 must be entered by a parent. All videos entered must not be older than two years from the first day of the event.Â
Will the dance school have to enter the dancer or can the parent? Do they have to belong to a dance school?
Parents will need to enter any dancer under the age of 18 into our solo, duet & trio virtual competition, you can do this without going through your dance school, but it is important to consult & inform your dance teacher or choreographer before entering. Dancers over the age of 18 can enter themselves into our competition. Parents may not enter dancers into the group competition.
How do we enter if we are a group?
Groups entries must be made through the dance school or choreographer.
How many times can you enter?
There are limited spaces available & whilst you can enter as many times as you choose, all entries will be on a first-come, first-served basis. As soon as a category is full, the competition will be closed for that section.
What are the categories?
We accept all genres of dance – and the age categories will be:
- Solos, duets & trios: 7 – 11 years, 12 – 14 years, 15+ years.
- The groups will be Junior (7 – 13) & Senior (14+).
The age of the dancer is decided by their age at the time the video was filmed. For the duets & trios, please go by the average age of the dancer at the time of filming. For groups, all dancers in the Junior group must be 7-13 at the time of filming, for the senior group you may add Junior dancers if you have a mixed group, as long as they were over the age of 7 when the video was made.
What are the time limits?
- Solos – 1.5 mins
- Duets/Trios – 2 mins
- Groups – 3 mins
Video entries must be within the time limits â any videos submitted that are over these times will have points deducted.
What kind of videos can be entered?
You can enter videos from previous competitions or shows (as long as you have permission), videos previously filmed in the studio or videos filmed at home, you will not be judged or scored based on the quality or location of video. You will not be judged on costume or presentation and are not required to wear a costume in your video. In order to make your video look as good as possible, we suggest filming in landscape format, however, we can accept portrait also. The videos sent in will need to be media uploads (not links such as YouTube etc).
